The revelation surrounding the 3rd generation Ryzen Threadripper CPUs first popped up in a set of PowerPoint slides made for its investors. The HEDT CPU pops up on the sixth slide of the presentation, titled “2019 AMD Client Lineup”. The 3rd generation Ryzen Threadripper CPU can be seen at the far right end of the slide. Right after AMD’s 2nd generation Ryzen Pro Mobile and 3rd generation consumer desktop Ryzen processors. It’s interesting to note is that, unlike the other two, the slide does not specify an exact release date for the CPU. Though, if one were to make a deduction, it’s highly possible that AMD could release its multi-core beast sometime at the end of this year.
Unfortunately, the slides do not disclose any further information of the 3rd generation Ryzen Threadripper CPU. Not even its core counts, base or boost clockspeed. Given how the AMD’s top-tier 2nd generation Ryzen Threadripper, the 2990WX, featured a whopping 32-cores, 64-threads count, it’s possible that AMD will try to one-up itself by releasing a new HEDT CPU with an ever higher core count. On a side note, the slide also confirms earlier reports for AMD’s 3rd generation desktop Ryzen CPUs. The slide states that AMD will be releasing the processors mid-year; coinciding with the rumoured launch date of 7 July 2019. For now, we’ll just have to wait patiently until AMD makes another announcement about the 3rd generation Ryzen Threadripper a little further down the road. (Source: AMD via Hot Hardware)
