Like the current non-HEDT Ryzen CPU lineup, the Threadripper PRO 5000 WX Series CPUs are based on AMD’s 7nm Zen3 architecture, meaning that they also benefit from an increase in base and boost frequencies. More importantly, because it is based on the Zen3 architecture, that also means that these processors are now PCIe 4.0 ready. In terms of SKUs, the lineup comprises five CPU models: the 5945WX, 5955WX, 5965WX, 5975WX, and the 5995WX. Core and thread count for the new Threadripper PRO 5000 WX Series starts at 12-cores, 24-threads with the 5945WX, while the top-of-the-line CPU, the 5995WX, ships out with a whopping 64-cores, 128-threads. Additionally, all five CPUs have a TDP of 280W, access to 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes, and support for up to 2TB of ECC UDIMM, RDIMM, and LRDIMM memory. Unfortunately for the average consumer, AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000 WX series of processors will remain out of reach; at the current moment, the CPU maker is only making the lineup available through OEM partners and in this case, its first form of availability is via Lenovo and its ThinkStation P620, and will be purchasable from 21 March onwards.
