TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says in a research note that these MacBooks will make an appearance either in the last quarter of 2020, or the first quarter of 2021. The note, obtained by MacRumors, does not mention any other details. This includes whether these will be MacBook Air or Pro models, or even both.
Apple has been reportedly making its own ARM-based processors since 2018. Even back then, the company projected that it will start using them for its own products by 2020. Doing so will allow the company more freedom to make its own product announcements, without having to accommodate another company’s launch schedules. All that aside, it will still be awhile before we see any of these MacBooks making an appearance. Conveniently, Apple usually has events in September and March, with an occasional third event in between. It will likely be during one of these.
