The aforementioned VPN service will be available for Android initially, while its roll out for other platforms such as iOS and Windows is expected later on. Additionally, Google noted that the service is only activated in the US for the time being, with no confirmation of its availability across the globe.
According to the product page, the company ensures that its VPN will not be used to track, log or sell the user’s browsing activity, and that no one can use it to tie the user’s identity to their online activity. Google adds that its client libraries are open sourced and the end-to-end systems will be independently audited in 2021.
In the meantime, the Google One cloud storage service is already available in Malaysia for sometime. For reference, the 2TB package is priced at RM42.99 per month, while all Google accounts are granted the 15GB plan free of charge by default.
