ORIGINAL STORY (16 Nov / 11:16 AM): Grab is facing technical difficulties at the moment which resulted in users not being able to utilize its services since this morning. The disruption is not only happening to Malaysian users but has also been reported in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Singapore. It is not known when exactly the disruption happened although Grab Malaysia has acknowledged it through a post on Twitter at 9:19 AM. However, the post didn’t include any estimated recovery time and in-depth explanations regarding the disruption.

If you open the Grab app right now, you would be first shown the service disruption notification. Once you dismissed it, you would then see that Grab’s home page which is usually full of promotional materials is currently empty, as shown above. A quick lookup through social media showed that it is not only customers who are facing problems using Grab services but drivers as well. Some of the replies by Grab Malaysia’s customer service agents have suggested users reinstall their Grab app but the move doesn’t seem to solve the problem.

At the moment, there is still no follow-up update regarding the matter from Grab Malaysia. We will update this article once we hear more, so stay tuned. UPDATE (17 Nov – 11:30 AM): More than 24 hours have passed since Grab Malaysia admitted that it has been hit by technical difficulties but it seemed that the storm is not yet over. A quick check at Twitter revealed that the recovery is still ongoing according to a reply by Grab Malaysia’s customer service agent at 11:20 AM today although some services are already back to normal.
