Well, if you, like me are a fan of this franchise, then get ready to lift three fingers in the air because we’re going to be getting another Hunger Games movie! More than 10 years after Suzanne Collins first published The Hunger Games (the first of a trilogy), Scholastic has announced that she’s currently penning an untitled Hunger Games prequel novel. The book is set in Panem, 64 years before we meet Katniss Everdeen in the original trilogy. The novel is only set to hit bookshelves on May 19 2020. However, Chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture group, Joe Drake, revealed that the studio is already developing a film adaptation together with author Suzanne Collins.

On top of that, producer Nina Jacobson also quote-tweeted Scholastic’s announcement with “cat’s out of the bag,” most likely indicating that she will be returning to manage this film adaptation much like she did the original trilogy.

— nina jacobson (she/her) (@ninajacobson) June 17, 2019 The film is still in early stages of development, so there is no casting news as of yet. Don’t expect any of the film’s original cast to return to the fold, though, as the film will be set years and years before Katniss and her peers were even born. There is currently no director attached to this project.
