If you’re not, it’s basically adding your own reaction to a short video. Your reaction then becomes a new short video of its own. It’s pretty much the same story with Instagram and its new Remix feature, and the more on-the-nose name. You take an existing Reel, record something over it, and it becomes a new reel of its own. You can even add pre-recorded vids of your own for this.

— Instagram (@instagram) March 31, 2021 Though one caveat to using the new Remix feature is that you’ll have to jump through extra hoops if you want to use an older Reel. To use Reels that exist prior to the new Remix addition, you’ll have to enable them via the three-dot kebab menu. Newer Reels made after the Remix update will have this enabled by default. While the feature may be something that frequent Instagram users may be looking forward to, it’s clearly one that’s inspired by the competition. Pretty soon we may see something that’s similar to another popular app going around that is Clubhouse. After all, parent company Facebook is already looking into doing something like that.
