The p-hailing guildline from MoT is rather straightforward which includes being above 18 years old and not being part of Road Transport Department (JPJ) or Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) blacklist. Additionally, they also need to adopt social distancing and perform contactless transaction as well as wearing face mask and clean their hands with disinfectants or hand sanitizer after each delivery.
Towards the end of the guideline, MoT also stated that it is also compulsory for p-hailing riders to utilize the MySejahtera mobile app. In case you not familiar with the app, it was developed by the government to help monitor the COVID-19 pandemic in Malaysia. Available through iOS App Store, Google Play, and Huawei AppGallery, the app contains several features that provides it with rudimentary contact tracing capability including a self-assessment health tracker and voluntary location check-in. The MoT guideline pointed out that p-hailing riders need to prove to authorities that they have registered for MySejahtera app.
The government is also currently working to merge features from another COVID-19 app called MyTrace into MySejahtera. Even though no details regarding this is available at the moment, we believe that could mean the inclusion of Bluetooth-based contact tracing capability as per what the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Khairy Jamaluddin has shared before.
