The alleged launch date of the Netflix-exclusive series was reportedly announced via a now deleted Facebook post on its Facebook Netherlands page. The post doesn’t technically provide a date outright; the post instead alludes to several TV series and how many “nights sleep” it would take until the launch of each show. At the time of the post, The Witcher was listed with 97 days left on the list. A quick and simple calculation literally points to the show’s launch date that we mentioned at the start: 17 December.
To reiterate, Netflix did remove the post after a while, meaning that the supposed launch date could be pushed back in the near and immediate future. Therefore, it would be best to take this with a pinch of salt, at least until Netflix officially confirms the release date again. Unlike the critically acclaimed video game that launched in 2015, Netflix says that its adaptation of The Witcher will be more closely associated with the characters from the original novels.
