As a refresher, Nothing is established by former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, who parted ways with the company in October 2020. Rather than entering the smartphone market, Pei’s new brand decided to make its debut with a pair of true wireless earbuds instead. However, its potential entry to the mobile phone scene in the near future is possible, as the company had acquired former Android co-founder Andy Rubin’s Essential smartphone brand back in February this year.
The Nothing ear (1) earbuds saw its initial launch in select markets in late July this year. Aiming to offer something fresh to the ever-growing true wireless audio market, the new audio product is introduced to feature the company’s uniquely transparent and minimalist design language. This is also paired together with Nothing’s own ANC (active noise cancelling) technology, high quality audio delivery, and a long lasting battery life. The local launch for the new earbuds can be viewed on Nothing’s official Shopee store next Wednesday on 13 October 2021 at 12pm. Pricing for the Nothing ear (1) is still kept under wraps for the time being. For your reference, the company’s first ever product is currently retailing at US$99 (~RM419) in markets outside of Malaysia. (Source: Nothing Malaysia press release)
