Not only that, it looks like the same number of people, around 61% of us, continue their research by searching online while already in-store. This is in addition to the fact that 75% of phones in the country are still being bought offline. These figures come as part of the Year in Search 2020: Insight for Brands report, not to be confused with the company’s annual Year in Search that shows what people search for most throughout the year.
Also, the report shows that people have different priorities when looking for their next smartphone, depending on where they live. The report states that 69% of non-metro users search for battery life, while 66% of metro users look for device performance. It’s important to note though that the report has an odd classification of metro and non-metro users. The former represents those living in Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley. Non-metro users, on the other hand, are those living outside the aforementioned areas, including other cities like Pulau Pinang.
