“Reasons to get excited this year: #OPPOFindX2,” tweeted Shen on his Twitter account on 3 January 2020. However, he did not follow-up with any other details regarding the much anticipated OPPO flagship smartphone after that.
— Brian Shen (@BrianShenYiRen) January 3, 2020 Interestingly enough, the vice president instead took to his Weibo account where he revealed that the Find X2 might not feature the company’s under-display selfie camera technology. Shen explained that the upcoming flagship phone will be mass produced, therefore the possibility of including the technology is pretty slim. This lead most to believe that the technology is still in its experimental stages which requires further improvements and testing before it can be implemented in any upcoming smartphone release. OPPO previously demonstrated the under-display camera tech on a concept phone during MWC Shanghai last year, which was speculated to be the Find X’s successor (then rumoured to be called the Find Y).
Besides that, Shen had not disclosed when exactly we’ll be expecting the OPPO Find X2’s reveal or launch in 2020. Nevertheless, it’s certain that the company will eventually tease further details in the coming weeks or months. (Source: Brian Shen via Twitter / Weibo.)
