Reddit user u/Syhix has shown a screenshot of the mobile version of Discord, with an option that reads “Join Voice on PlayStation”. Another shows that only the PS5 gets the proper voice chat integration, while the PS4 is left out in the cold. A third screenshot provided asks users to sign in with their PlayStation ID. It’s worth noting that, beyond proper voice chat capabilities for the PS5, nothing else about this is new. Being able to display what games you are playing on Discord came with the basic integration from back in February of this year. Which can be nice, but the voice chat part of it is by far the more important part of the equation which is still missing. Also worth nothing is that neither PlayStation nor Discord have announced any updates beyond what was announced earlier this year in February. Naturally this means that neither have confirmed that this better integration is in beta, nor when it will be released to the general public.
Version 6.00 is September 7th, 2022. So Discord integration on the PS5 is March 8th, 2023 (if nothing else changes). — Tom Henderson (@Tom_Henderson) August 29, 2022 But as TechRadar notes, gaming industry insider Tom Henderson may have a clue on when that will happen. He has claimed in August that this PS5 voice chat integration will be released on 8 March 2023. Which, all things considered, is a very long wait. That would be over a year since the initial announcement before gamers can get voice chat on PS5, leaving PS4 owners without the feature. (Source: Reddit, Tom Henderson via TechRadar)
