Aside from the game’s premise, not much is known about Star Wars: Squadrons. People familiar with the project (probably Bothans) told VentureBeat that the game will take place during the original trilogy and will feature the franchise’s iconic starfighters such as X-wings, U-wings, a variety of TIE attack crafts, and more.
— EA Star Wars (@EAStarWars) June 12, 2020 Squadrons is said to launch on both PC and consoles in fall 2020. It’s uncertain if it will be a timed exclusive to the Microsoft Store on PC, or will see a simultaneous release on EA’s own Origin platform, Steam, and other digital storefronts. The report added the game will allegedly feature both singleplayer and multiplayer content, but details regarding its story and gameplay mechanics are still scarce. However, the VentureBeat noted that Squadrons was made as a “direct result of EA wanting to release a Star Wars game relatively quickly.” This would suggest that the game may not be as in-depth as fans would have hoped for, and could just be a Fighter Squadron spin-off using Star Wars: Battlefront 2’s assets. Well, all of that remains to be seen once the reveal trailer premieres tomorrow on Youtube at 11pm local time. We’ve included the embedded player and countdown above for your convenience.
