Last year, the first teaser trailer for Tenet was released. Of course, it did not reveal much about the plot, only showcasing the characters in some sort of mission to prevent a catastrophic event, whilst having to deal with timey-wimey-back-to-the-future glitches. The title itself is a palindrome, which may also be a hint at what’s to come. However, beyond that, it is a dark and empty canvas as no other details have been given. Actor Michael Caine, who has featured in every single one of Nolan’s films since 2005’s Batman Begins, recently commented on the secrecy behind Nolan’s work, stating that even he himself does not know what the film is about. Speaking to The Hindu, the 87-year-old told of his brief experience on set. Here’s what he said:

Of course, a director like Nolan would want to keep things close to his chest. This tightening of the lips is akin to that of Marvel or Star Wars, whereby it limits the number of plot details getting released to the public prior to the movie’s release. The level of intrigue would definitely turn up the heat on the hype as well. Knowing Nolan’s fans, they would be placing any information they get under a microscope, analysing every frame to speculate on plot details and concepts that might occur in the film. Tenet, which also stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, and Elizabeth Debicki, is one of the last summer outings to hold on to its schedule amid the coronavirus crisis. Paramount recently felt the need to shift Top Gun: Maverick to Christmas and Minions: The Rise of Gru has vacated its July slate. Will we still be able to see the film this summer? Only time will tell. Regardless, I’m certain this will be another hit for the Nolan. Gotta look forward to getting our brains squeezed dry when we watch it in theatres!
