For those who not familiar with the device, the Mi 9 is equipped with a 6.39-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display which the company sourced from Samsung and in-screen fingerprint scanner. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor although things are slightly different when it comes to memory and storage option for the phone in Europe.
While it can be obtained in China with up to 8GB of RAM, the Mi 9 variant for Europe only comes with 6GB. Furthermore, the MI 9 can also be purchased In Europe with smaller internal storage of 64GB – an option that is not available in China – instead of 128GB. Photography-wise, the Mi 9 features a main camera with 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor and f/1.75 79-degrees lens. The phone’s rear camera setup also includes two more snappers including Samsung S5K3M5 12MP sensor and f/2.2 2x optical zoom lens as well as 16MP Sony IMX481 sensor and f/2.2 117-degrees lens which also acts as macros lens.
There’s also another 20MP f/2.0 camera on the front of Mi 9 which is housed within the phone’s teardrop display notch. Of course, Xiaomi didn’t forget to highlight that Mi 9 has been ranked quite highly by DxOMark. With the ability to support wireless charging with a rating of up to 20W, completing the phone’s general specifications is a 3300mAh battery. The phone itself is able to support Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ tech although the charger that is included with it is an 18W Quick Charge 3.0 charger.
At its MWC 2019’s event, Xiaomi stated that the Mi 9 will carry a starting price tag of EU 449 (about RM 2074) for the 6GB/64GB variant while the 6GB/128GB version starts at EU 499 (~RM 2304). Don’t panic though; the price for Mi 9 in our market will definitely be different and chances are that it would be much lower since phone prices in Europe tend to be higher than Malaysia. Interestingly, Xiaomi somehow didn’t highlight the Mi 9 Transparent Edition which comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage as well as the mid-ranger Mi 9 SE during its MWC 2019 event.
